Amazon is tightening its rules for marketplace sellers. In recent days, numerous German retailers have received requests to submit additional documentation about their supply chains in the branded products category. The deadline for compliance is September 17, 2025.
Failure to provide the required documents means listings could be deactivated. Sellers would also lose the ability to create new listings for the affected products.
Which products are affected?
According to discussions in SellerCentral, notifications have been sent from various Amazon country platforms, including France (Amazon.fr), Italy (Amazon.it), the Netherlands (Amazon.nl), and the United Kingdom (Amazon.co.uk).
Brands mentioned primarily come from the tech and electronics sector, such as:
- Samsung
- Dyson
- Canon
- Philips
- HP
- Sony
- Microsoft
- Panasonic
Authenticity and safety
Amazon says the new seller obligations aim to ensure that only safe and authentic products are available on the marketplace.
In its messages to sellers, the company stated:
“We are taking this action to ensure that only safe and authentic products are sold in our store. We require sellers to demonstrate a track record of consistent inventory supply from verifiable suppliers.”
What Amazon demands from sellers
To comply with the new seller obligations, retailers must provide evidence that they:
- Sell genuine branded products
- Source items from authorized suppliers
- Ensure reliable product availability
- Maintain high customer satisfaction
Documentation requirements
- Invoices from suppliers (no older than 180 days, covering at least 100 units; price info can be redacted).
- Supplier details including company name, address, email, and website.
- Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, PNG, or GIF.
Amazon has set a transition period: existing stock can still be sold until September 17, 2025. After that, sales will be blocked, and unsold inventory must be returned, disposed of, or donated.
