Amazon has rolled out an innovative grocery delivery subscription service now accessible to Prime members and EBT users in over 3,500 cities and towns across the United States.

For customers preferring regular grocery purchases—whether through delivery or pickup—this new grocery benefit promises further time and cost savings on Amazon’s extensive array of nearly 100,000 grocery items spanning Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and local grocery and specialty retailers. Here are the specifics:

  • Prime members in over 3,500 cities and towns across the U.S. can enjoy unlimited grocery delivery on orders exceeding $35 from Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, and various local grocery and specialty retailers available on Amazon.com for $9.99 per month. Subscribers also retain access to exclusive savings in Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market stores, alongside other Prime benefits, all under a single membership.
  • As part of Amazon’s commitment to aiding low-income customers in affording groceries, individuals with a registered EBT card can avail a discounted subscription fee of $4.99 per month to access the grocery delivery subscription without a Prime membership.
  • Subscribers gain unlimited delivery for orders over $35 from local grocery and specialty retailers such as Cardenas Markets, Save Mart, Bartell Drugs, Rite Aid, Pet Food Express, Mission Wine & Spirits, and more where available.
  • Grocery delivery subscribers enjoy convenient delivery and pickup time slots for orders from Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh, including complimentary one-hour delivery windows where available, unrestricted 30-minute pickup for any order size, and priority access to Recurring Reservations for their weekly grocery order.
  • The subscription pays for itself with just one delivery order per month from Whole Foods Market or Amazon Fresh, priced at under $50.

As Tony Hoggett, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Grocery Stores at Amazon, stated, “This new grocery subscription benefit delivers added value and savings on delivery fees for customers who regularly purchase groceries from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and various local grocery and specialty retailers on Amazon.com. Our aim is to establish a top-tier grocery shopping experience—whether in-store or online—where Amazon stands as the preferred choice for selection, value, and convenience. Catering to diverse customer needs, we strive to save them time and money with every grocery purchase.”

Amazon conducted a grocery subscription pilot with Prime members in Columbus, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; and Sacramento, California, in late 2023. In a recent survey of pilot participants, over 85% expressed extreme or high satisfaction with the unlimited free delivery benefit. Top reasons cited for continuing the subscription post-trial included savings on delivery fees and enhanced grocery shopping convenience.
