Kaufland Marketplace Italy

Kaufland Marketplace Italy is now officially live. From September 2, 2025, Italian customers can choose from over five million products across 6,400 categories, ranging from home & living, electronics, and DIY to fashion, baby & kids, and sports. For German and international retailers, this launch means one more sales channel through the Kaufland Marketplace ecosystem. Sellers can now expand their reach not only in Italy but also across Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, France, and Germany. In total, more than 13,000 retailers are already active on Kaufland Marketplace, with around 3,000 having joined Kaufland Marketplace Italy at launch.

Strong growth potential for retailers

According to Gerald Schönbucher, CEO of Kaufland e-commerce, interest from both national and international sellers is high:

“Our past launches have been very successful, and we are confident that Kaufland Marketplace Italy will quickly gain traction. Sellers who are active across all Kaufland Marketplaces generate, on average, an additional 50% of their Kaufland.de revenue.”

This underlines the platform’s potential as a serious growth driver for online retailers. Particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, Kaufland’s marketplaces have become top destinations for categories like garden, home improvement, furniture, and kitchen.

Europe’s alternative to global e-commerce giants

Kaufland Marketplace positions itself as a European alternative to global e-commerce giants. Operated by the Schwarz Group — which also owns Lidl and Kaufland supermarkets — the marketplace emphasizes data security, compliance with European regulations, and fair conditions for both sellers and buyers.

The platform is powered by Kaufland Global Marketplace, an all-in-one solution designed to simplify cross-border selling. With a single registration, retailers can access all seven active Kaufland Marketplaces. Additional free services include translation of product data and legal texts, as well as personal seller support — making international expansion easier than ever.

Italy: The seventh Kaufland Marketplace country

With the addition of Italy, Kaufland Global Marketplace now spans seven European countries. In Germany, Czechia, and Slovakia, Kaufland already ranks among the largest online marketplaces. Following successful entries into Austria and Poland in 2024, these platforms have quickly become some of the fastest-growing e-commerce channels in their markets.

Earlier in 2025, Kaufland.fr opened up access to France, the third-largest e-commerce market in Europe, where more than 3,000 retailers now offer over three million products. With the launch of Kaufland Marketplace Italy, retailers selling across all marketplaces can potentially reach almost 140 million online customers in Europe.

What this means for online retailers

For e-commerce professionals, Kaufland Marketplace Italy represents both a new revenue stream and a strategic foothold in Southern Europe. By leveraging the platform’s centralized tools and localized services, online sellers can:

  • Expand into Italy with minimal additional effort.
  • Benefit from seamless integration into six other European marketplaces.
  • Tap into a growing customer base seeking variety and convenience.

As competition in global e-commerce intensifies, marketplaces like Kaufland are shaping up to be vital partners for retailers who want to scale internationally while staying within a trusted European ecosystem.
