Amazon has announced an extended return period for the upcoming holiday season. As a consequence u.a. Amazon Germany is giving customers more time to return items. This temporary measure is part of a broader initiative across Europe, aimed at encouraging early shopping and boosting sales for merchants during this peak period.
As in previous years, Amazon is offering an extended return window for items purchased between November 1st and December 25th. In Germany, customers will be able to return these items until January 31st or within 30 days of purchase, whichever is later.
For certain product categories bought via Amazon Germany, such as cameras, electronics, office supplies, PCs, wireless devices, video games, music, and DVDs, the return period will be slightly shorter. Items in these categories bought during the same timeframe can be returned until January 15th or within 14 days of purchase, whichever is later.
Amazon encourages early shopping in Europe
This extended return policy is part of a larger European initiative, covering other key markets like the UK, France, Italy, and the Netherlands. However, Spain has a different deadline, with returns accepted until February 6th for purchases made between November 1st and January 6th. The return deadlines were announced on Amazon’s Seller Central forum.
Amazon’s decision to extend return periods is aimed at providing customers with added peace of mind when shopping early for the holidays. The extended window applies to items fulfilled by Amazon, Amazon Retail, and third-party sellers using the Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program. This move is expected to help merchants increase their sales during the holiday season, as customers may feel more confident in making purchases knowing they have a longer time to return items if necessary.
