We had the pleasure of speaking with Maximilian Modl, the CEO of Brevo Germany, about their recent win at the E-commerce Germany Awards and their vision for the future.

EGN: Given the competitive nature of the e-commerce industry, what motivated you to take part in the E-commerce Germany Awards 2023?
MM: Today’s e-commerce companies are facing diverse, ever-changing client needs and expectations to which they need to adapt. Our team has built an innovative platform that helps companies address these challenges and create compelling marketing campaigns.
The E-commerce Germany Awards are a highly valued honor. Taking part was important for us as it allowed us to share our success story and underline our commitment to helping companies navigate this complex environment.
EGN: Your dedication to helping companies adapt is inspiring! Could you describe your company – and what it does – in ~9 words?
MM: Brevo stands for sustainable customer relationships and growth. Period.
EGN: Interesting. Could you elaborate on your field of expertise? What are you aiming to achieve and what makes your brand really unique?
MM: In the grand scheme of things, our mission is clear: to help businesses build meaningful customer relationships at scale in a quickly-changing digital world. We make this simple and accessible with intuitive and scalable marketing and sales tools, like email, WhatsApp, automation tools, and more. We also prioritize high data privacy standards and GDPR compliance. Furthermore, we offer reliable customer support in six languages and cost-effective services and tools.
EGN: There is no doubt that you place a high priority on customer relationships! The EGA recognizes pioneers who introduced some extraordinary and innovative e-commerce solutions. Could you share the achievement that helped you win the Best Customer Communication Tool award?
MM: We are immensely proud to be the winner of the Best Customer Communication Tool award. Over the years, we have constantly evolved our offerings to help our customers achieve organic growth. We have added capabilities that take marketing to the next level, like Chat, WhatsApp campaigns, or transactional emails.
These tools allow marketers to build profound relationships with customers across their entire journey – something so very rare in the e-commerce landscape.
EGN: You’ve accomplished quite a bit there! How do you envision your ideas helping other businesses grow?
MM: In a world where marketing encompasses the entire customer experience, we aim to become a symbol of thoughtful long-term investments in relationships rather than anonymous short-term sales. We help companies build interpersonal connections by creating personalized campaigns that perfectly suit their business model. This approach not only improves customer retention but also fosters lasting relationships, which we believe are one of the best investments a company can make.
EGN: We agree that investing in relationships over the long run is a wise decision! Do you have any other insights or tips for fellow e-commerce enthusiasts for the months to come? Is there anything that everyone should pay special attention to?
MM: Artificial Intelligence and AI-driven automation will have a remarkable impact on all industries and their marketing efforts, including e-commerce – especially when it comes to personalization. Customers are already expecting more than just a one-and-done service or interaction. They are actively seeking genuine relationships and a whole experience from beginning to end – no matter where or when.
EGN: You’ve provided valuable insight there! Finally, could you share your brand’s plan for the next year? What will you focus on?
MM: We recently announced the rebranding of Sendinblue to Brevo. Building awareness for Brevo will be our main focus. We are also moving away from an exclusively email-centric marketing tool towards a more comprehensive CRM suite.
In addition, we recently opened more offices on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean to further put down roots in the US market. Our long-term goal is to increase our current annual recurring revenue tenfold in the next seven years and metamorphose from centaur to unicorn.
