Today, we’re delighted to share our conversation with Nicole Baron, Digital Marketer DACH at Plytix. Plytix was one of the standout winners at the E-commerce Germany Awards 2023.

EGN: Welcome, Nicole. It’s great to have you with us today. Let’s start with the E-commerce Germany Awards 2023. Why did Plytix decide to participate?

Nicole Baron: We saw the E-Commerce Germany Awards as an opportunity to increase our brand awareness in the DACH Region. As we’re currently expanding our efforts into this promising market, being recognized by such a prestigious award was definitely a step in the right direction. We believe many e-commerce companies in the DACH Region can benefit from our tool, and we want to make sure we’re on their radar.

EGN: That’s a strategic move. Could you describe Plytix in one sentence?

Nicole Baron: Absolutely. Plytix is a Product Information Management Tool (PIM) that helps SMBs sell more products in more places with less effort.

EGN: Interesting. Could you elaborate on your field of expertise and what you aim to achieve?

Nicole Baron: Plytix PIM is specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses to help them manage their product information more efficiently. Providing optimised product data across all channels is nowadays key to stay competitive in the ecommerce field and it’s often SMBs that struggle to keep up with it. Since we believe in brand diversity, wewant to empower SMBs with accessible tools so they can compete in the competitive e-commerce landscape. We’re committed to making our mission a reality and constantly improving our tool based on user feedback. We strive to provide top-notch, personalized onboarding so that companies get the most out of our tool.

EGN: That’s a noble mission. The EGA recognizes pioneers who introduced extraordinary and innovative e-commerce solutions. What was Plytix’s achievement that helped you win the Award?

Nicole Baron: We’ve always focused on the underserved SMB segment in the market. We believe that PIM is a tool that should be used regularly, and especially in smaller companies, not everyone is an expert in IT. That’s why we place such emphasis on user-friendliness, which is key when it comes to creating product content. 

This award is proof that there are many companies out there, waiting for the right tool to take their e-commerce business to the next level.

EGN: Sounds impressive – and so true! So, could you please tell us more how your ideas can help other businesses grow?

Nicole Baron: In a world where multichannel-commerce rules the e-commerce industry, a PIM is key for anyone selling products online. With a PIM, all product information is centralized in one place, making it accessible company-wide. Our solution is made specifically with team collaboration in mind, so that teams can work together to enrich and update all of the product information. This way, businesses can ensure that the data they are sending to all of their sales channels is complete, accurate, and optimized.

EGN: That’s really insightful and on point, as collaboration moves the mountains! Do you have any tips for fellow e-commerce enthusiasts for the months to come? Is there anything that everyone should pay special attention to?

Nicole Baron: AI is a topic that everyone in the digital field should keep a very close eye on. It’s going to disrupt how people search and shop for products. Soon people will get used to asking Alexa or Siri for product recommendations or meal suggestions. This will put all companies under immense pressure to provide relevant and detailed data at all times. So the sooner you prepare for this, the better!

EGN: Thanks for sharing that tip. Lastly, what is Plytix’s plan for the next year? What will you focus on? 

Nicole Baron: Our focus will remain on two things: team collaboration and SMBs. We want to be the #1 PIM for SMBs and provide a tool that makes team collaboration for product data management a breeze. We want to help them compete and grow in the tough e-commerce industry. We’ll continue improving our tool in terms of the features it provides for collaboration. Companies should be able to bring on board everyone that needs to be involved in the product data management process and get their job done as easily as possible.

EGN: That’s a promising outlook. Thank you for your time, Nicole. It was a pleasure speaking with you and learning more about Plytix.

Submissions for the 2024 awards open on November 20, 2023. Each company can enter a maximum of two categories. The public voting round begins on January 8, 2024, with the top 10 nominees being announced on January 25, 2024. The winners will be determined by a team of ecommerce professionals and announced at the awards ceremony in Berlin.
