Reimagining ERP for e-commerce with weclapp: E-commerce Germany Awards interviews

At the last E-commerce Germany Awards, amidst a sea of innovative digital solutions, one platform rose above the rest in the Best Platform & ERP category: weclapp. Behind the name is a bold mission to make enterprise software that’s as simple as it is powerful. But how did weclapp, a company built to serve small and medium-sized businesses, come to lead the way in one of the most complex areas of digital infrastructure – ERP? To find out, we sat down with their team shortly after they took home 1st place in their category.

When we asked weclapp to describe what their company is all about, the answer revealed a clear and focused vision.

“weclapp is a cloud-based ERP software company that supports small and medium-sized businesses in managing their core processes within a single platform,” they told us. “From CRM and project management to accounting, merchandise management, invoicing, and inventory, we deliver an integrated solution that boosts efficiency and fosters collaboration.”

This all-in-one philosophy runs deep in the DNA of the product. Rather than connecting existing tools, weclapp has built its platform from the ground up to serve the full spectrum of business needs – all in the cloud. It’s a solution that’s as ambitious as it is accessible, aimed at helping businesses move faster, work smarter, and scale with confidence.

A product born from frustration and built with purpose

Like many great products, weclapp was born out of a problem. weclapp’s team shared how the original idea for the platform came from watching small and midsized businesses struggle with a patchwork of outdated tools and on-premise systems.

“There was a clear market need,” Ertan Özdil, CEO of weclapp explained. “Companies were juggling fragmented solutions and inefficient workflows. It became obvious that a flexible, cloud-native ERP solution like weclapp was essential.”

Watch our podcast episode with Ertan:

That early clarity has fueled the platform’s evolution ever since. Listening closely to users, adapting quickly to market shifts, and integrating new features based on real-world challenges, weclapp has grown into a product that supports thousands of organizations globally.

Designed with e-commerce at its core

E-commerce has its own set of complexities: managing multichannel sales, syncing inventory, handling customer relationships, and keeping operations efficient across platforms. That’s where weclapp excels. We asked how their solution specifically supports online retailers, and the answer was telling.

“Our solution delivers major advantages by centralizing all key operations in a cloud-based platform,” they said. “It’s especially valuable in multichannel environments, where speed and transparency are critical.”

Whether selling on Shopify, Amazon, eBay, or a direct-to-consumer store, weclapp offers the flexibility and scalability to keep operations streamlined. But the solution isn’t just for e-commerce. Thanks to its modular design and broad functionality, it also supports industries like fashion, electronics, beauty, and food & beverage.

What makes weclapp stand out

In a crowded ERP market, what makes weclapp different? When we posed this question, three key themes emerged:

First, true cloud-native architecture. Unlike many competitors who simply wrap legacy systems in a cloud interface, weclapp was built entirely for the cloud, integrating everything from inventory and orders to CRM, accounting, and shipping into one seamless experience.

Second, scalability. The platform adapts to each stage of a company’s growth, supporting multichannel sales and international expansion with integrations for platforms like Amazon and Shopify.

And third, ease of use. With a clean interface and fast setup, most teams can start using weclapp without formal training. “Usability is at the centre of our design,” the team emphasized.

Innovation is at the company’s core

When asked if they plan to continue evolving the product, the answer was a resounding yes.

“Continuous innovation is at the core of everything we do,” they told us. Every two weeks, updates are rolled out, many of which are driven by user feedback. And right now, some major developments are on the horizon.

We found out that a long-requested HR module is in the works, giving users the ability to manage employee data and HR processes directly within the platform. And even more exciting is the ongoing rollout of Vueclapp – a complete redesign of the user interface built with modern front-end technologies.

Trends shaping the future

As a company deeply embedded in the fast-moving world of e-commerce, weclapp has a front-row seat to the changes reshaping the way businesses operate – and they’re not just watching those shifts; they’re preparing for them.

When we asked what trends they believe will define the near future, their insights reflected a thoughtful understanding of where the market is headed.

“We’re seeing a clear movement toward increased automation,” the team shared. “Businesses are looking to automate tasks like inventory management, order processing, and even customer service – not just to save time, but to reduce human error and free up teams for more strategic work.”

Another big trend? The rise of omnichannel strategies. As shoppers move fluidly between marketplaces, webshops, social platforms, and even brick-and-mortar stores, businesses are under pressure to create seamless experiences across every channel. weclapp is positioning itself as a key enabler of that shift, with integrations and workflows designed to support multichannel operations from day one.

And then there’s the growing role of AI and personalization. From product recommendations to targeted content and marketing, artificial intelligence is opening the door to highly tailored customer experiences. weclapp sees this as a space where data-driven insights will become a game-changer for online retailers, and their ERP platform is evolving to support that future.

They also pointed to the growing consumer demand for sustainability. Ethical sourcing, environmentally conscious practices, and transparent operations are no longer just nice to have – they’re becoming essential for customer loyalty.

Finally, weclapp is keeping an eye on emerging sales channels. Platforms like TikTok are redefining what digital commerce looks like, especially for younger consumers. The brands that embrace these new ecosystems early will be the ones that thrive and weclapp aims to help them with that.

A strategic stage: The E-commerce Germany Awards

Participating in the E-commerce Germany Awards 2025 was more than just a competition for weclapp, it was a moment to validate years of hard work and dedication.

“We wanted to showcase the strengths of weclapp and benchmark ourselves against other strong solutions,” they told us. “Winning first place – and receiving the special award – was incredibly meaningful. It confirmed that we’re on the right track.”

But beyond the awards themselves, it was the community and exchange of ideas that left a lasting impression. “Apart from winning, my favorite moment was the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with other professionals in the industry,” Mergim Thaqi, product manager at weclapp shared. “Especially in light of the current economic and political environment, those conversations were incredibly valuable.”

Looking ahead

When we asked if they’ll return to compete next year, the answer came with enthusiasm: “Yes, we definitely plan to participate again!”.

For weclapp, the E-commerce Germany Awards offer more than recognition. They’re a platform to stay engaged with the pulse of the industry, gather feedback, and share their evolving journey with the broader community.

And for those considering entering in the future? “Go for it,” they said. “It’s about visibility, feedback, and being part of a vibrant and innovative community.”
