The new research by Casaleggio Associati was presented, which describes the market of solutions and services for Ecommerce companies, mapping around 700 solutions in nine different categories.

The new report “The Partners of Ecommerce Companies 2024” has been presented by Casaleggio Associati. The research maps out the panorama of technological solutions and services dedicated to Ecommerce, providing an essential guide for Ecommerce companies. The analysis focused on over 700 solutions divided into nine categories, including Ecommerce platforms, payment systems, CRM and customer service, marketing services, logistics and shipping, with particular attention to the impact of innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence, in improving company performance.

The research was presented at an event in Milan organized by Ecommerce Italia, with large participation of digital sector professionals, and which saw Amazon Shipping and indigo.ai as Main Partners.

During the meeting, it was reiterated that the success of an Ecommerce company depends on a careful selection of technological partners and integrated services: “Looking at the Ecommerce Technology Stack of the first seven thousand Italian merchants in the Ecommerce Italia ranking allows to identify the suppliers who are making the difference” explains the president of CA Davide Casaleggio “In particular, a strong difference in adoption between sectors also emerges, which certainly indicates on the one hand different needs depending on the products and services sold, but on the other also possible opportunities created by a competitive analysis often restricted to one’s own sector.”

Among the topics explored in the report:

Ecommerce managers’ satisfaction

Operators prove to be most loyal to Technology Partners and Agencies, with an average satisfaction of 73%, followed by Payment Systems (71%), Marketing Services (62%) and Advertising Services (64%).

When investigating which three services merchants are most satisfied with, the answers were very diverse, with the exception of a few services mentioned repeatedly by Ecommerce managers such as Shopify, Google, Scalapay, Qapla’ and GLS.

Reasons to choose a new supplier

Evaluating the merchants’ reasons for seeking new suppliers, the need for continuous innovation emerges (Need for innovation cited by 56% of merchants and Need for new services/features by 54%). However, there are also problems with the services currently used such as the Need to reduce costs (38%), Market/customer expansion (34%), Technical problems or limitations (33%), Service Deterioration (25%), Poor support (18%) and Relationship Deterioration (14%).

Investments planned by operators

Almost all operators expect to invest in new services in the next 12 months. Operators are more conservative on Payment Systems (25% expect no investment), Catalogue Management and Marketplaces (23%) and Logistics and Shipping Services (15%).
